
Most of the time, when I'm photographing wildflowers, I want them to connect to a broader scene. I tend to go low with my compositions, featuring the flowers as close as I can to the lens and allowing the surrounding area to complete the composition.
In the case of this image, captured in Washington State, I went low with a 24mm to feature the Silver Lupine and Yellow Balsamroots just after the sun had set. I gave an equal amount of real estate to the sky because it was so beautiful.
