Moonrise Over Half Dome, Yosemite National Park

Posted by
Don Smith (California, United States) on 13 August 2020 in Landscape & Rural.

I have been working on a couple of upcoming Zoom presentations. In both, I will be discussing post-processing and have been looking for RAW files of some of my favorite images that were not easy to process - including this frame from a Gary Hart workshop in Yosemite in 2016. It is imperative to expose for the moon, which in this case rendered the surrounding monoliths quite underexposed - they had to be gently teased-out in post using luminosity masks. This was captured during the transition of nautical and civil twilight.
