Bristlecone Pines, White Mountains, California

Posted by
Don Smith (California, United States) on 31 July 2020 in Landscape & Rural.

Back in 2011 I was commissioned to appear in a video for Nik Filters and one of the location shoots was the awesome White Mountains above Bishop, California. I remember our sound guy went down with altitude sickness as we were over 11,300 feet. The camera guy and I pressed on and I captured this frame shortly after sunset as the twilight wedge became quite intense.
These Bristlecone pines are amongst the oldest living specimens on the planet and have a life span dating 4,000 years!
