Wipeout at Mavericks

Posted by
Don Smith (California, United States) on 8 February 2016 in Sport & Recreation.

With all focus on the Super Bowl in Santa Clara this weekend, the "Titans of Mavericks" surf event could not be held due to lack of security staffing. My friend Mike Hall sent me a story where the organizers said the waves were the best they had seen in 10 years, so we arrived at dawn on Saturday to shoot (haven't processed those as of yet). After shooting from Mavericks Beach and being chased out by the second high tide of the day, we headed up along the headland overlooking Ross Cove to shoot some surfers. Let's just say, this did not end well for this guy! BTW - if anyone knows who this is I'd love to get in touch with him. I'll gladly trade a print for a model release. CLICK IMAGE FOR LARGER VIEW.
