Minus Tide at Mavericks

Posted by
Don Smith (California, United States) on 4 January 2016 in Landscape & Rural.

Beri and I spent a couple of days at Half Moon Bay after Christmas and I wandered out onto the rocky reef at Mavericks Beach below Pillar Point in the rain near sunset one evening. Although it looks calm in this image, this is where some of the biggest waves in the world form if conditions are right with a northwest swell. Hope to go back with the long glass when the waves start firing.
