Heavenly Light, Santa Clara Valley, California

Posted by
Don Smith (California, United States) on 20 December 2015 in Landscape & Rural.

Yesterday Beri and I attended the funeral of a lifelong friend Wes Warren. Wes was 97-years-old and I have known him and his family (12 children and his wife Ramona) since I was a kid. The funeral was really special in the fact that one could feel the love and appreciation for Wes through stories told by two of his sons and in the readings chosen for the service. My heart goes out to his family but they are very special and I know their love and support of each other will carry them through. When I got home, I felt wiped out but also reflected on how much family means to me. My friend Nick Lust had texted wanting to know if I would be interested in going out shooting and Beri encouraged me to get out there with my camera. It was raining when I left, but just before sunset, the skies parted and this warm splash of light poured forth from the heavens - I thought of Wes, I thought of his loving family, I thought of my family, then I smiled and clicked the shutter.
