Understanding when to "expand" and "contract" your scene's tonality range is paramount to producing an image that matches your creative vision of the scene. With this composition of Upper Ponytail Falls in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge, I underexposed the highlights -1 and processed for the shadows (kind of like the old B&W film days).
