Ansel Adams used to teach that the eye constantly needs to be worked towards the center of the frame. We never want our viewer's eye to inadvertently be drawn out of the image; thus, he advocated a slight burn around the edges to finish off the scene. We can accomplish this feat very easily with digital and I explain my "old-fashioned" method that has stood the test of time.
