Image Critique/Review sessions are very important for one's development as a photographer. As a workshop instructor, I have given many image review (critique) sessions over the years. Yet, rarely does a workshop go by where I do not hear the horror stories of the insensitivity by other teachers towards their students' work. A completely negative review session shows lack of judgement by the instructor in my opinion. On the other hand, I do not believe in simply heaping praise where none is deserved. Instead, I try to offer ways of improving the image - without demonstrating these ways, the session becomes useless for the student. To read more of my thoughts, please read Image Critiques - Pros and Cons.

BTW - The image used for this blog post was captured last week during Gary Hart's Death Valley Workshop at dawn at the Mesquite Dunes.
