Note: This is a continuation of a 10-part series where I explore visual concepts that can help you while in the field. These concepts are not intended to be a how-to guide; rather, they are ways of helping one think about the visual craft of landscape photography.

Welcome to Part 5 of Exploring Visual Concepts. Luminosity in nature is not always easy to find. I consider this type of light almost magical. It's the type of light that can stop even the non-photographer/artist in their tracks. It appears as if the landscape glows, as if the earth emanates with an inner vibrancy. I tend to find this special light just minutes prior to or just after sunset/sunrise and in canyons where the tall walls serve as giant reflectors.
