If you follow my blog with any regularity, it comes as no surprise that I truly love the Pt. Lobos State Reserve near Carmel, California. I have oftentimes described this place as a photographer's Disneyland. More than that, it is just a great place to rejuvenate one's soul.
I felt recently that I was spending far too many hours in the office and not enough behind the camera, so it was time to go explore the Reserve and find a nice sunset location. The Reserve now allows visitors to extend their visit to 30 minutes past sunset!
This image was captured at the northernmost portion of the Reserve along the Cypress Trail. I used a Singh-Ray 5-stop split neutral density filter to hold back the sky and allow the foreground and its beautiful color to open up.
I will be leading a Big Sur workshop starting next Monday. There are still 2 spots open if you would like to join us. Just contact me or go to my website for further information.
