El Capitan and Three Brothers

Posted by
Don Smith (California, United States) on 2 April 2008 in Landscape & Rural.

While working on some images I shot from this past winter, I came across this frame which, when at the time I shot it, I didn't think much about it. Now it's one of those photos that I'm getting to like more because the wide angle view allows for Yosemite's El Capitan (left) and Three Brothers (right) to coexist in a single image. The Merced River seems almost dormant as it is at its usual low winter flow. It had been snowing earlier in the day and a carpet of fresh snow contrasted nicely against the warmth of the Valley pines.
