After much planning, I am pleased to announce to addition of a new workshop next July 12-16, 2010 in Kauai, Hawaii!

I have made many trips to the "Garden Isle" over the years for my own stock photography (and a few vacations) and now will be sharing my knowledge of the island with 12 participants during 5 days next summer. Kauai is truly a photographer's paradise with its awesome tropical sunrises and sunsets, numerous waterfalls, lush scenery (think Jurassic Park), and numerous rainbows! Hollywood discovered this paradise years ago and now so can you.

The workshop will be hosted at the luxurious Hilton Kauai Beach Resort located just minutes from the Lihue Airport. This places us conveniently on Kauai's eastern shore allowing us short drives to many spectacular sunrise locations.

The image here is from the Kalalau lookout (featured in the film 7 Days and 7 Nights starring Harrison Ford). This view is from 4,000 feet above the Pacific looking west which allows for amazing sunset images (and rainbows) such as this! Because this location is away from the more popular "tourist spots" I've have photographed this incredible view many times by myself!

@Amir Taheri Kondar: Thanks Amir, the weather was pretty wild on this particular evening with a mixture of wind and rain. One minute my view was obscured by clouds, and the next minute it would look like this. The rainbow was actually present for quite a while.

@Lambspun: Thanks Lambspun - I have photographed from this location quite often over the years and I've never seen the same conditions - it is a magical place (as is the entire island of Kauai)!

If only another trip to Kauai was possible, I'd sign up for your workshop in a minute!
We're just thankful we got there in 1984 for our 25th anniversary.
This is GORGEOUS.

@Judy: I'd love to have you come along Judy, your trip was just a couple years after Hurricane Iwa if I recall correctly. The last hurricane to hit the island was in 1992. Kind of like our earthquakes here in California.

@Magda: Thanks Magda, let me know if you'd like to join us and I will send you more information. We put in long days but also have a lot of fun. The hardest part is when the workshop ends as we feel we have made so many new friends. Speaking of workshops, I start my summer Big Sur workshop today!

Stunning photo! The colors are so vibrant! Sometimes the simple things make a photo for me... This composition is stellar (of course!) and there are a lot of elements working together here. But for me, the little grassy knoll on the right is the clincher. I'm so glad you included it because it's just awesome! :)

@Jen: I like the grassy knoll (reminds me of Dallas - hmmmm), becasue it completes the concentric line started at the cliffs, to cut it off would have been jarring to the eye.
