Dawn's Color From The Whale's BackPosted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 23 March 2009 in Landscape & Rural. I will start posting some images from my recently concluded Spring Big Sur Workshop. This was the first morning out as our ambitious workshop participants trudged their way atop the Whale's Back in Garrapata State Park for a look up and down the coast. I spotted this cloud sitting over the top of the Point Sur Light Station and held my breath that the approaching sunrise would work its magic. We were not disappointed! The sky lit and the cool blues of the Pacific Ocean offered a nice juxtaposition of colors. It's really nothing more than a simple photograph of beautiful color; the fact that it all happened along this amazing stretch of coastline with the Point Sur Light Station in the background, made for a perfect moment. I will be offering another Big Sur workshop late this August where we will play with the coastal fog. If you would like to join me on a workshop, please visit my website listed below.
