Get out of bed when it is still dark, drive to a location, pack all the gear up a steep ridge, then wait and hope for some magic. @Tracy: Hi Tracy, I had all our participants trying to time that light. It really moves slow, so it's just a matter of waiting, but it adds a nice accent to the image.

@Scott Schilling: Thanks Scott, the cloud was hanging there when we arrived, I knew chances were really good that it would light! I'm looking at Thursday morning (Mike's on board also), I'll let you know.

@john4jack: Hi Jack, the more I shoot Big Sur at dawn, the more I'm convinced it can be done. The steepness of the Santa Lucia's make it tough, but there is a natural gap in the range at that point and I can usually get good light in that direction. Thanks for your comments.

@DarkElf: Thanks DarkElf. This was a new location for me and the group (actually I had scouted it a week earlier). It affords a view both north and south of the Big Sur coastline. The fact that the cloud was hanging over the Point Sur Light Station was icing on the cake! Thanks for your continued nice comments - I hope all is well in Perth. I'm counting the days until I can come visit your country.
