Dawn Sky Over Santa Rosa Creek

Posted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 4 January 2009 in Landscape & Rural.

The town of Cambria, California is a lovely seaside community located at the southern end of the Big Sur coast (97 miles south of Carmel). I spent the night at a small Inn located along Moonstone Beach, and awoke before dawn. I grabbed my gear and went for a walk along the beach looking for a sunrise location. At the southern end of the beach I found Santa Rosa Creek. Just before sunrise the sky came alive with vibrant color. The hill in the background is littered with homes, but because of the high contrast of the scene, they disappeared into silhouette, leaving me with this tranquil scene.
