Fallen MaplesPosted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 3 November 2008 in Landscape & Rural. After having photographed countless times in Yosemite National Park, I sometimes like finding the more subtle side of this grandiose place. Such was the motivation for this image captured near the banks of the Merced River on the Valley's west end on the final afternoon of the Gary Hart Yosemite Fall Workshop. I noticed the pattern these leaves made and I will admit I swapped the foreground leaf (which looked a bit tattered) for the fresher one. There's really not much else to say other than I was drawn to the color and simplicity of the fallen leaves. I used my 16-35mm extremely close and at a very low perspective. I will be posting more images from the workshop over the next couple of weeks.
