A tiny tree sits high atop a rocky peak in the Gabilan Mountain Range in central California. Cirrus clouds hover late in the day and provide a stark contrasting background. I love isolating the landscape like this. I feel one of the easiest exercises we can all do to improve our compositions is to eliminate anything that is not needed in the frame. Most times, the simplest images are the most successful. I will be leaving today for a 5-day workshop with my partner Gary Hart in the eastern Sierra. I may not have much access to the internet.
