Mission DreamscapePosted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 16 September 2008 in Landscape & Rural. Part of the fun that digital has brought me is the opportunity to see my images transformed into various realms of artistic interpretations. I posted an image ealier this month entitled "Gallant Dreamscape" after a technique embellished by noted French photographer Andre Gallant. Many of you may also know this technique was first credited to another photographer named Michael Orton. Freeman Patterson and Tony Sweet have also used this "dreamy" way of creating images with much success. In the "good old days" of film, the technique required two slides sandwiched (one image shot at f/22 and overexposed by two stops and another image at f/2.8 at +1 overexposure). In digital there are various ways of replicating this technique. For this image of a rose garden in front of Mission San Juan Bautista, it was a three-step process. It involved HDR, a perspective fix, and then a digital "Dreamscape."
