John the Baptist Statue and Mission

Posted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 6 September 2008 in Landscape & Rural.

A statue of John the Baptist stands in front of its California namesake: Mission San Juan Bautista. I captured this image prior to my previous post as the sun was setting, I liked the warm glow on the inner arch of the bell tower and decided to take a low angle to add emphasis to the outstretched arms. This is an HDR image; I probably could have shot it straight, but it would have needed much more work in Photoshop to balance the tones.
