Thanks so much for all your comments. I really feel HDR has allowed for a more realistic view of our world. I've been told that an HDR'd image doesn't look like a "real" photograph. Thank goodness! A "real " photograph doesn't present the world the way we see it. I did read something the other day on pixels and sensors. It seems camera manufactures are still pushing the envelope in regards to the number of pixels they want to add to new sensors/cameras (megapixels is an easy sell to the average consumer). The tradeoff will come in the area of dynamic range. To increase dynamic range, we need larger photocells (pixel heads); however, to get more pixels on a finite sensor, manufactures can only logically shrink the photocells, thus, we are going to see less dynamic range than what we currently have available. Perhaps there is new technology out there of which we are unaware that will allow for both. I guess only time will tell. Can this foretell a re-emergence with medium format? Larger sensors = larger photocells = increased dynamic range.
