Sunset and Ice PlantPosted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 31 August 2008 in Landscape & Rural. A setting Pacific sun warms the sky above a bluff covered with non-native ice plant near the Pigeon Point Lighthouse, 27 miles north of Santa Cruz, California. There would be no chance of pulling off this image without the help of HDR software. This is a 9-exposure blend in Photomatix Pro 3.0 software. The vibrancy of color - especially in the ice plant and sky - is due to the fact that the chroma has been recorded correctly. There is really no need to saturate much if the color is recorded properly. Over and underexposed images will have definite problems. Just another plus in my mind for HDR. This is a beta version which includes a noise reduction feature that really works!
