Lone Oak and Setting Sun

A wildfire burning in nearby Santa Cruz County, California, filled the sky with smoke and enabled me to hold some detail in the setting sun. I found a lone California Oak and used it as a graphic element which I could juxtapose with my main subject (in this case, the sun and it's surrounding reddish color) on a nearby ridge. This location is within a 15 minute drive from my home in the southern Bay Area. This image is the result of a double RAW process, once for the oak and sky and once for the sun. I then opened both in Photoshop CS3, changed the blend mode to Soft Light and lowered the opacity setting to 62%.
