Storm Clouds and Sunset in Sedona

Posted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 6 June 2008 in Landscape & Rural.

A classic desert storm sky mixed with sunset light allowed for this vibrant image shot near Airport Mesa in Sedona, Arizona. Most times in landscape photography, the light is what I am after. I simply added this dead snag as a foreground element to give the scene a sense of scale. I waited for the sun to lower in the sky, then placed it along an edge of the snag to create the sunstar. By using the snag, I created depth to this image and in turn made it hopefully more interesting.
