Calla Lilies at Sunset Near Garrapata Beach

Posted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 22 March 2008 in Landscape & Rural.

Calla lilies make their annual appearance in this grove near Big Sur's Garrapata Beach along California's central coast. I used a Singh Ray 5-stop split-neutral density filter to hold back exposure on the sky and allowed for the lilies in the foreground to expose properly. I also tested a new software from Nik Multimedia called Viveza on this image. It allowed me to easily mask targeted areas of this image and apply specific levels of brightness, contrast and saturation.
