Crescent Moon Over Point Sur Lighthouse

Posted by Don Smith (California, United States) on 12 March 2008 in Landscape & Rural.

This is the second sunset image from Sunday night (see previous day's post for the first location). I was not alone as 12 other participants of my 2008 Spring Big Sur Workshop also photographed this incredible dusk glow and crescent moonset. The Point Sur Light Station State Park houses this active lighthouse which contains a aero beacon that can be seen by ships up to 24 miles away and keeps them from crashing onto its rocky point during foggy nights. Point Sur itself is a volcanic rock and the lighthouse sits 361 feet above the Pacific Ocean. For more information on my workshops please visit my website http://www.donsmithphotography.com
